BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING
Blood Pressure is a force of the blood pushing against the walls of
arteries.
It is important that you know your systolic and diastolic pressure;
with this, you need blood pressure monitoring.
Systolic pressure is when the heart is at its utmost beating and
pumping out the blood.
While diastolic is when the heart is at rest and between beats, the
blood pressure slows down.
Blood pressure monitoring is important to keep track of your blood
pressure. The recorded result of your blood pressure monitoring will
help the doctors and nurses to make their diagnosis about your
condition.
In monitoring blood pressure, you may need a blood pressure
monitor; stethoscope and a record sheet, along with this are the other
accessories that are important to keep track of your blood pressure.
In monitoring the blood pressure, there are some tips to remember.
To measure your blood pressure, do not use caffeine, alcohol and
cigarettes 30 minutes before you measure.
Proper blood pressure monitoring should be done first thing when you
wake up in the morning and before dinner.
Either you use the upper arm or wrist method, bear in mind that it is
at your hearts level.
Always measure your blood pressure on the first day of every month.
Blood pressure monitoring is usually recommended by physicians to
prevent the development of hypertension.
There are two ways of blood pressure monitoring and they can be either
via invasive and noninvasive means.
Noninvasive technique uses catheters or needles, this is considered as
a more accurate tool in blood pressure monitoring.
On the other hand, the invasive method is the conventional way of
monitoring wherein it uses monitoring devices like aneroid, digital
monitor, mercury, cuffs and stethoscope.
